When I first heard about J-Bizness the homie POW of Untamed TV had a Parking Lot Session video that featured one of his beats. Wondering who and where this cat came from, I threw a beat battle in 08 and he came out. The most humblest and down to earth cat you’ll ever meet. Everyone went crazy when he played his beat at the beat battle; niggas jumped on stage and people were cyphering in the crowd. Since then I’ve been a fan, his beats bring a different but familiar sound to hip hop. I downloaded his new project Reason: Beats & Pieces, listen to the entire cd while playing 2k9 on my XBox 360; it’s FIRE. If you’re a real emcee who loves to cypher and sharpen your sword you need to download it. Some beats will test your delivery and if you can ride a beat. Reason: Beats & Pieces is all around dope!
Describe your sound.
It’s hard to describe but I would say it’s west coast because of the swing and instruments I use, a bit underground and it can get electronic but a lot just comes off the head. Since using Reasons lately its gotten more electronic and less samples.
What was your first reaction when you won the Redbull Big Tune Battle?
Shocked! I didn’t even think I would get selected let alone get this far and to go up against LA’s favorite Dibiase it was just all surreal. I was like I couldn’t believe a nigga just won. The Redbull Big Tune Beat Battle wasn’t only the best battle I seen but one of the best I’ve taken part in; me and Dibiase went 5 rounds. It was a lot of shit goin back and forth, I still havent seen anything as hype.
Okay, I downloaded Reason: Beats & Pieces, it’s bananas.
I’m glad you like it.
I really like Hello, Nitro & Russian
oh you like that Hello that’s dope
When did you start on the project?
Reasons: Beats & Pieces didn’t start with no plan or direction, I got Reasons a little under a year ago and started using it to make beats. i just took the beats that sounded well together and made a compilation.
Are you a martian?
Naw I’m from planet earth and down to earth. I don’t think I’m that out of the box compared to other producers out here. I stretch the inspirations and creativity in myself to make a sound that is classic yet revamped, familiar yet new. Next time you hear me you might not even know that’s me, you be like damn I didn’t even know it was like that.
What artist are you working with now?
Cats in the Nine (909). Blak King, Maestro Montana, Skeem Price, Take it Easy & Noa James. Anyone ill, I’m not the dopest producer but you gotta have standards and a level of emcees you’d work with. Stop fucking with these wack niggas, stick with talented emcees.
Did you know, there’s a dance in the I.E. called the Bizness?
Yea I seen the homie Cornbreeze doin it, yea that’s tight and crazy.
Who are your top 6 producers that inspire you?
J Dilla, Madlib, DJ Quik, Hi Tek, Dj Khalil & Pete Rock
